Our dojo is dedicated to studying traditional Japanese martial arts. These are effective combat disciplines rooted in the 11th-century fighting style of the elite Japanese warrior class, the Samurai. Although they may be antiquated in many ways, their body mechanics and overall philosophy are steeped in mindfulness, which has profound physical and mental applications. The fundamental disciplines we offer, Aikido and Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, are expressions of internal power that includes matching or harmonizing with the opponent’s energy and intent. Their core principle, Aiki, is the foundation and philosophy behind the mechanics and what separates these from all other martial arts. Therefore, there is no need to worry about not being strong or not being young enough. Regardless of size, age, or gender, you are welcome to train with us at our dojo.
